Terrain: Small Futuristic Buildings - part1

I've lost loads of terrain pieces due to the earthquake that hit 6 months ago, so I needed some new scenery for Infinity. It had to be cheap, fast and simple to build, easy to store, good-looking and durable. Not an easy task, uh?

After a some try, I settled with this very simple shape: a 10x20x5 cm box with detachable roof. It's made from foamed PVC reinforced with plastic angle bars. The glasses are made with clear polystyrene scavenged from packages.

Every 25x50 sheet of PVC costed around 3,80 €, and it was enough to make two buildings. Each L-shaped bar costed about 0,60 - 0,80 € and was more than enough for three buildings.

Since the PVC sheets comes in various colors I didn't need to paint 'em, and so it contributed greatly in reducing the time spent on each building. It took me about half an hour from raw material to finished buildings (drying time excluded).

The total cost is somewhere between 15 and 18 € for 6 buildings.

Not bad.

Ho perso un sacco di edifici a causa del terremoto che ha colpito Mirandola 6 mesi fa, quindi avevo bisogno di nuovi scenici per Infinity. Dovevano essere a buon mercato, semplici e veloci da costruire, facili da stoccare, belli e robusti. Non facile, eh?

Dopo un po 'di prove, ho risolto con una struttura molto semplice: una scatola di 10x20x5 cm con tetto rimovibile. E' fatto con schiuma di PVC rinforzato da angolari in plastica. I vetri sono realizzati in polistirene trasparente proveniente da scatole per imballaggi varie.

Ogni foglio di PVC 25x50 costava circa 3,80 €, ed è stato abbastanza per due edifici. Ogni barra a L è costata circa 60 - 80 centesimi ed è stata più che sufficiente per tre edifici.

Dal momento che i fogli in PVC sono già colorati non ho avuto bisogno di dipingerli, e così mi ci è voluta circa mezz'ora, per passare dalle materie prime agli edifici finiti (esclusi i tempi di essiccazione).

Il costo totale si aggira tra i 15 ed i 18 € per 6 edifici.

Non male.
