Space Marine with Lasgun (GW)

I washed the model with Burnt Umber watercolor, and called it finished. Next, the flamer!

Wip: Space Marine with Lasgun (GW)

It's still a Wip, but you can already guess how it will be.

Brown Wizard (Reaper)

I've painted a wizard from Reaper (03393: Vistaril Quillscratch, Wizard).
I'm truly amazed by the quality of this figure: the cast is clean, with almost no mould lines. The sculpt is lovely too. I really like how the cape and the robe are wrapped around his body.

Infinity: Assembled SAS and Scout

Yesterday I prepared those minis for painting. They're for my Ariadna faction in Infinity. The sculpt are excellent, very well detailed and with no mold lines as usual.
SAS

Scout.

Scout. To make the assembly easier, I didn't use the left arm. I simply sculpted a new one covered with mimetic canvas.

Christmas Wish List

It's almost Christmas, so it's time to write Santa's letter, and for me to share what's currently on my "most wanted" list.

Dear Santa, this year I wish to receive a new gaming room, with enough space for a table and storage of my minis. If it's too expensive and/or impractical (a room can be heavy to carry on your sled), I've got a list of things I'd like to own.

First, the Frech and Antartica Naval Starter Set for Dystopian Wars (Spartan Games) are gorgeous. Too bad I'll probably never play 'em.

Second, I'd like to start a new faction in Infinity. I love the Haqqislam faction, specially the Maghariba Guard. It's so Ghost in the Shell!

I'd like to have a blister of Wargames Factory WW2 Americans too. They look gorgeous.

So, that's it. There are loads of other wonderful miniatures out there, but the one I listed are currently on top of my list.

See ya, Santa! Please give me something nice this Christmas!

Dungeon Twister: Wizard (Mirliton? Grenadier?)

I purchased this mini at Lucca Comics 2012, a couple of months ago. It's a Mirliton figure (I guess...).
I'm very satisfied of it: the robe turned out better than I expected.
I'm still rather unsure if  should use it as the Dungeon Twister Blue Wizard. It's good, but the base is too high.

Vedremo!

Space Marine Test No.2

Following the feedback you gave me on my previous attempt, I darkened the Space Marine in order to make details stand out more.
I applied Burnt Umber watercolor and painted red the skulls. This time I'm really satisfied of the effect.

On a side note, I've took those pics on snowy background. Next time I'll stick to a classic white sheet, this turned out too bright.

Terrain: Small Futuristic Buildings - part2

Here it comes the second wave of buildings for Infinity. They're built with the same materials the other ones are, but they're L-shaped.

Terrain: Small Futuristic Buildings - part1

I've lost loads of terrain pieces due to the earthquake that hit 6 months ago, so I needed some new scenery for Infinity. It had to be cheap, fast and simple to build, easy to store, good-looking and durable. Not an easy task, uh?

After a some try, I settled with this very simple shape: a 10x20x5 cm box with detachable roof. It's made from foamed PVC reinforced with plastic angle bars. The glasses are made with clear polystyrene scavenged from packages.
Every 25x50 sheet of PVC costed around 3,80 €, and it was enough to make two buildings. Each L-shaped bar costed about 0,60 - 0,80 € and was more than enough for three buildings.
Since the PVC sheets comes in various colors I didn't need to paint 'em, and so it contributed greatly in reducing the time spent on each building. It took me about half an hour from raw material to finished buildings (drying time excluded).
The total cost is somewhere between 15 and 18 € for 6 buildings.

Not bad.

Space Marine Test and some Terrain

As I mentioned in my last post, I've tackled the Space Marines my friends gave me as a birthday present. Since it will be a lot of work, I've decided to go with a test model in order to find out the best painting scheme.
I decided to stick with white, as I was inspired by Gnotta's Imperial Guard.
I've still to decide on this scheme, as it feels great up close, but it loses flashiness at arm's length. I fear that the separation between white and yellow isn't as harsh as it should be.

While I was taking the camera outside to shot some pictures, I remembered that I've loads of new terrain pieces to show, so I took some of them out and photographed them.
The pipes are electric covers based on black foamed PVC. The container is a free PDF I found on the net. To be honest, I really enjoy the reference to the Terminator film.

Miniature: Westwind Vampire - female in red

Another vampire from Westwind Miniatures. I'm not sure if I like it or not: the dress is well sculpted, but the hairs and the face are a mess.
This is the last "long time Wip" I'll paint for a while. Next I'm gona do the Space Marines.

Miniature: Westwind Vampire - female in blue

As I wrote in this post, I bought a vampire box from Westwind Miniatures some time ago. In my crusade to paint all the old minis before buying new ones I tackled this one as well.
I never really liked that miniature: its boobs and face are bad-shaped at best, and the hairs are truly bad sculpted.

Orc Captain (GW LotR)

I bought this mini 5 years ago. I tried many times to paint it, but I always desisted half-way. Now it's finished, and I'm rather satisfied of it, even if it's a bit too earth-toned for me.
