200th Post!

So this is my 200th post. Honestly, when I started blogging I didn't believe I could go so far.

I have to thank all of the people that have supported me along this journey.

From the first time I blogged something surely changed. I started emulating Geektactica, Chez Gnotta' and Zerloon Place. Now I follow loads of  other blogs too, like Fire Broadside!, and I use a wider spectrum of sources to inspire me.

My english has became much better since I started blogging, and so I refined my photographing skills (still loads of things to learn, unfortunately). Not to mention I actually DO things!

I thank you all for your patience with my ongoing ramblings. Till Next time!

Questo è il mio 200simo post. Onestamente, quando ho iniziato a bloggare non credevo avrei potuto arrivare così lontano.
Ringrazio tutte le persone che mi hanno sostenuto in questo cammino, in particolare i miei lettori.
Dalla prima volta che ho scritto su questo blog sicuramente è cambiato qualcosa. Ho iniziato emulando Geektactica, Chez Gnotta' e Zerloon Place. Ora seguo un sacco di altri blog, tra cui l'eccellente Fire Broadside!. Inoltre uso molte più fonti di ispirazione.

Il mio inglese è diventato molto meglio da quando ho iniziato a bloggare, ed ho anche affinato le mie capacità fotografiche (anche se ho ancora molto da imparare). Per non parlare del fatto che bloggare mi spinge a dipingere!

Grazie per la pazienza che dimostrate per il mio continuo blaterare. Alla prossima!

Wargamer (Ground Zero Games)

I've almost completed to add details to the troll, but no pics yet.

That's a "stereotype wargamer" from GZG. The mini is nice, well sculpt, with no mold lines. It has a lot of character too. It's a pity that this guy is considerably smaller than my other minis, and he would be surely mistaken for a dwarf wargamer.

The price is good: 1.5£.

Ho quasi terminato di aggiungere al troll i vari dettagli in kneadite, ma non do ancora fatto nessuna foto.

Questo è un "wargamer stereotipato" dalla GZG. La scultura e lo stampaggio sono eccellenti. Niente linee di fusione e soggetto decisamente simpatico. Unico neo la scala: Questo è un 25 mm puri e semplici, e quindi se usato insieme alle altre miniature sarebbe sicuramente scambiato per un giocatore nano (complici anche la barba e la birra).

Il prezzo è più che onesto: 1,5 £

Wip: Zvezda Troll

A couple of days ago I found a troll miniature for "Ring of Rule" (an old Zvezda tabletop wargame) in a local model store. It was on sale for 12€, truly a bargain when compared to similar-sized Games Workshop Mordor Troll (33€).
The model is cast in hard plastic and come with a huge load of optional bits. On the bad side, it has little fine details, unlike the GW one.
I'll say it's a decent model, if properly adapted with some sculpting to your own needs.

Un paio di giorni fa ho trovato in un negozietto di modellismo un Troll della Zvezda a 12 €. Invogliato dal prezzo onesto l'ho comperato e portato a casa.
Il modello ha circa le stesse dimensioni del troll di Mordor GW, che però costa 33€.
La plastica è rigida, più simile a quella dei kit di montaggio per i carri che a quella per i figurini (a mio avviso questo è un pregio).
Lo sprue straborda di piccoli dettagli e accessori. Il modello in sè, invece, è abbastanza spoglio.
Per come la vedo io, questo modello si presta più che bene all' aggiunta di dettagli tramite materia verde.

As you can see, I made an halberd-like weapons out of bits and scraps. I used a blade and two warpstones from the Skaven Doomwheel. The shaft is made with a plastic rod coming from the same sprue. The thread is another piece of sprue stretched on a candle and then glued on the spear.

Come potete notare ho costruito un'arma (ispirata ad un'alabarda) utilizzando un pezzo di sprue per il manico e le pietre e la lama provenienti dalla Doomwheel Skaven. La corda è stata fatta stirando la plastica e poi incollandola sul modello.

I'm planning to add some more fur and armour, probably some brigandine or scale armour patches. I'll add an helm. Still to decide what's better: a mail hood, a barbute or a pointed helmet with fur?

Sto pianificando di aggiungere un po' di pelliccia e di armatura. Probabilmente una brigantina o delle placche. Aggiungerò anche un elmo, anche se devo ancora scegliere: meglio una barbuta, un cappuccio di maglia o un elmo "barbaro" (cuoio con punta in ferro e pelliccia intorno)?

Anyway, the mini has some pretty serious gap issue, but some Green Stuff will solve the problem nicely.

Rambo and Terminator (Ground Zero Games)

I got those mini from Ground Zero Games. Those are really gorgeous models, even if they're rather short and un-detailed. Those minis were bought together with the previous two, in a sigle pack for 6£ total. I'm very satisfied of Rambo, it really catches the feeling of the real guy.

Ho comperato queste miniature insieme alle altre dalla GZG. Devo ammettere che nonostante la statura un po'scarsa questi figurini sono veramente ben fatti. Apprezzo in particolar modo Rambo. Il costo totale del pacchetto è stato di 6£, quindi poco meno di 1,85€ al pezzo.

Snake Plissken and John McClane (Ground Zero Games)

I got those mini from Ground Zero Games. They are supposed to represent Snake Plissken from "Escape from New York"and John McClane from "Die Hard".

I like those miniatures, but the proportions are kinda off, compared to newer sculpts.

I think Snake is the best of the two. Not so satisfied with John, it just doesn't do justice to Bruce Willis.

To summarize, the sculpts are sub-optimal, but the casting and molding are almost perfect. I didn't clean the minis before painting 'em, still the results are not too shabby.

Ho ottenuto queste miniature dalla ground zero games, un'azienda inglese nota per aver prodotto Full Thrust.I modelli dovrebbero rappresentare Snake Plissken di "Fuga da New York" e John McClane di "Die Hard".

Mi piacciono queste miniature, ma le proporzioni sono un po' strane, rispetto a lavori più recenti. Inoltre questi modelli sono lievemente più piccoli rispetto agli altri che possiedo: sono più simili a dei 25 mm che a dei 30 mm.

John non assomiglia per nulla a Bruce Willis, mentre Snake è un'ottima scultura; per come la vedo credo sia una delle meglio riuscite. Peccato che "Fuga da New York" non sia famoso come "Die Hard" o "Rambo", e che quindi la citazione vada spesso sprecata.

In sintesi, la scultura lascia un po' a desiderare, ma fusione e stampaggio sono quasi perfette. Non ho nemmeno pulito le  mini prima di dipingerle, tuttavia i risultati sono comunque soddisfacenti.

Zombie Horde!

I finally managed to get some photos of my most recent works.

As I told you,  I beefed up the ranks of my undead army with 22 Mantic Zombies and a nice, big, mean Zombie Abomination (previously a Killer Croc Heroclix mini). This bring the total at 55 Zeds. Still room for improvements.

I'm still working on my photographing skills. I still have to find out the best way to get a deep focus field with the camera I'm working with.

Sono finalmente riuscito a trovare il tempo per scattare alcune foto dei miei lavori più recenti.

Come vi avevo anticipato, ho ingrossato le fila dei miei non morti con 22 Zombie Mantic e con un Abominio (ex Killer Croc, Heroclix). Questo porta il totale dell'orda a 55. Possiamo ancora migliorare.

Sto lavorando anche sul modo migliore per ottenere una maggiore profondità di campo nelle mie fotografie, utilizzando la macchina fotografica di mio padre (una reflex digitale... moooolto meglio della fotocamera del mio cellulare!).

Still here

I'm still here, but I've no pics (not yet...).

I've painted almost all the Mantic Zombies (still 3 left) and 6 ScanFed starships. Still 10 ships to go.

Do you remember the last order I placed at Maelstrom Games? It still have to be delivered. I've got a bad feeling about it...
